Receptionist/Veterinary Care Assistant (Part-Time)
Are you passionate about animals and dedicated to their wellbeing?

We are looking for a skilled and compassionate individual to join our veterinary clinic as a Receptionist/Veterinary Care Assistant at our Meanwood branch. As a Veterinary Care Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our Veterinary Surgeons and ensuring the smooth operation of our clinic. This position is primarily Reception based, alongside supporting our clinical team with hands‑on nurse assistant duties when required.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Assisting veterinary surgeons during examinations and surgeries.
  • Handling and caring for animals with empathy and compassion.
  • Maintaining a clean and organised clinical environment.
  • Providing exceptional customer service to clients at the reception desk.
  • Answering and making phone calls, scheduling appointments and managing client queries.
  • Assisting with billing and maintaining accurate records.
About the rota

This is a part‑time permanent role working 32 hours per week on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday with 1 in 4 Saturday mornings. There will be alternate shift patterns including:

  • Week 1: 8:15am to 5:15pm
  • Week 2: 9:30am to 6:30pm

The flexibility to work between the hours of 8am to 6:30pm is essential. Must be able to travel to our Thornbury branch for training and other branches as and when required.

  • Previous experience in a similar role with reception duties is preferable.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to multitask efficiently.
  • Good administration and IT skills for managing reception duties.
  • Experience in cash handling/balancing.
  • Confidence in animal handling.
