Job summary

We are seeking a personable and organised Receptionist to join our busy secondary school on a part‑time basis. As the first point of contact for students, parents, staff and visitors, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming and efficient school environment.

Salary Range: Band 2: £26,646 - £27,911 (Actual starting salary £14,521 with annual performance‑based increments)

Working Weeks: 39 weeks (Term time), plus an additional 6 days to be worked in school holidays

Working Hours: 22.5 hours between 07:30‑16:30 Wednesday - Friday

This post is presently based at our Lower Academy, but staff may be redeployed to either site depending upon operational needs.

Key responsibilities:

  • Act as the main point of contact in reception.
  • Provide a professional and corporate representation of the Academies.
  • Welcome and assist visitors, students and parents in a warm and professional manner.
  • Handle queries and questions efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Answer and direct telephone calls and emails across both Academies.
  • Support the administration team with general administrative tasks, including document preparation, booking appointments, typing, photocopying and filing.
The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:
  • Experience working in a school or busy office environment.
  • A calm, professional manner and the ability to multitask.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office).
  • The ability to work constructively and flexibly as part of a team, with an understanding of school roles and responsibilities.
