Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality assurance checks on x-ray equipment.
  • Conduct routine quality assurance measurements on expensive equipment.
  • Assist senior staff with commissioning tests on complex equipment.
  • Support Radiology staff with evaluation of new medical equipment.
  • Train new staff and trainees in the use of test equipment.

Wehave an exciting vacancy for an enthusiastic individual to join our expandingsection and support the work of the Radiological Physics and RadiationProtection Service. While candidates with experience are welcomed, theposition would be ideal for a graduate or someone looking to start theircareer in Medical Physics. Full training will be provided to support theright candidate to become a Registered Clinical Technologist.

Main duties of the job

Youwill be responsible for performing quality assurance checks on x-rayequipment throughout the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and for ourexternal customers. Duties include routine x-ray quality assurance andinvestigations, as well as working both independently and alongsidecolleagues to perform acceptance tests, critical examinations and faultinvestigations. Additional duties include analysing patient dose data tosupport optimisation of exposures, performance testing and arranging externalcalibration of test equipment, development of spreadsheets and test protocolsand maintaining documentation relating to our Quality Management System.Frequent travel across Yorkshire is required and you should have your ownmeans of transport.

Job responsibilities

Function testing and safe handlingof specialist testing equipment (individual items ranging from £1000 to£20,000)

Perform routine quality assurancemeasurements on expensive equipment (from £1000 to £250,000)

Perform commissioning tests onexpensive equipment (£1000 to £250,000)

Assist senior staff in routinequality assurance measurement on complex equipment (from £50,000 to £500,000)

Perform routine patient andenvironmental dose assessments and produce summary reports for scientific andclinical staff

Assist in evaluation of new testequipment

Assist Radiology staff withevaluation of new medical equipment by providing comparative reports based onmeasured technical data

Support the Radiographer QAprogramme by developing documentation and technical procedures, and reviewingand commenting on results

Train new staff and trainees in theuse of test equipment

Train new staff and trainees inroutine quality assurance measurements

Propose changes to operationalpolicies that may impact on own area and others

Write technical procedures for ownarea
