Job description

Following the award of several new contracts in Northern Ireland, we have a vacancy for a Quantity Surveyor/Estimator to join our team. This position can be based in either our Belfast or Cookstown office.

Bell Contracts & Co Ltd is a professional construction company that operates throughout the UK and Ireland. We provide construction, property redevelopment and refurbishment services across various sectors.

Responsibilities

• Analyze construction drawings and specifications to identify labour, material, and specialist requirements.
• Preparation of enquiry documents, sourcing and obtaining material and subcontractor quotations including final negotiations and orders.
• Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors on a regular basis to ensure budgets are not exceeded.
• Complete monthly subcontractor valuations through to final account.
• Complete monthly valuations to PQS and record all additional works items.
• Liaise with clients to agree rates/variations and cost analysis.
• Measure works as per contract specific schedule of rates.
• Preparation and submission of interim valuations and final accounts within the agreed timescales.
• Working closely with Management and Accounts to ensure accurate and vigorous cost management of the project to deliver a profitable outcome.
• Provide accurate and robust monthly reports for Management and Client Progress Meetings.
• Attend and participate in Site Progress Meetings.

Candidate Requirements

• Ideally have an Honours Degree in Quantity Surveying / Construction Management or in other related disciplines. Applicants with HND/HNC or strong construction related experience will also be considered for the role.
• Experience in Estimating / Quantity Surveying role within a Main Contracting organisation for at least 2 years.
• Be articulate, pro‑active with excellent commercial acumen and communication skills and comfortable working with minimum supervision.
• Be able to demonstrate initiative whilst working in a team environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft packages including Outlook, Word, Excel and Project.
