Description

The Quality & Inspection Engineer is responsible for managing quality and inspection processes to ensure all GMA parts and systems meet required standards. They will lead root cause analysis, corrective actions, and product audits while driving continuous improvement across inspection and assembly processes. The role also ensures compliance with ISO9001 and supports cross-functional teams to deliver the highest levels of product quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Capture quality concerns and facilitate root cause analysis and verification of corrective actions.
  • Complete first article inspections.
  • Continuous improvement of the GMA measurement & inspection strategy.
  • Support final product audit.
  • Manage temporary containment in the GMA assembly process including approval of component rework and process deviation.
  • Create, analyse and apply testing and inspection procedures.
  • Establish in-process quality gateways for the GMA assembly process.
  • Support the DFMEA & lead the PFMEA activity.
  • Support new product launches to ensure product quality meets required standards.
  • Escalate unresolved quality issues.
  • Report on KPIs to adhere to processes and prevent non-conformities related to product, process, or system.
  • Review manufacturing processes and collaborate with engineers on process improvement & value enhancement opportunities.
  • Liaise with internal departments to carry out internal quality audits and ensure ISO9001 adherence.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Metrology, inspection methods and equipment including measurement experience.
  • Experience with aluminium welding and composite materials/bonding preferred.
  • Understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Working knowledge of problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D).
  • Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of composites (structural or visual/painted panels), bonding, plastic mouldings, exterior trim, as well as assembly processes is desirable.
  • Planning and prioritising of activities.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Ability to present data effectively.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety practices.
  • Organised, persuasive, resourceful, flexible, ambitious, self-directing with a passion for delivering objectives; comfortable challenging existing processes.
  • Clear and effective communication skills with internal and external clients.
  • Must be a team player.
