Overview
Join Avantis Group as a Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) Inspector and play a key role in ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance across marine, energy, and industrial projects. The QA/QC Inspector will work closely with project management, engineering, and site construction teams to verify that materials, workmanship, and processes meet contractual, regulatory, and company requirements.
- Carry out systematic inspections, tests, and verification activities across fabrication, installation, and commissioning phases to assure product and process quality.
- Maintain rigorous documentation of inspection results, non-conformances, corrective actions, and test records to support traceability and client reporting.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying trends, proposing corrective/preventive actions, and promoting best practice quality processes across multicultural project teams.
Key Responsibilities – QA/QC Inspector
- Perform planned and unscheduled inspections of materials, components, assemblies, and finished works against drawings, specifications, and applicable standards.
- Execute and witness tests, NDT (e.g., MT, PT, UT, RT where applicable), dimensional checks, and functional verifications in accordance with inspection and test plans (ITPs).
- Raise, record and follow-up non-conformance reports (NCRs); verify implementation and effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
- Review supplier and subcontractor quality documentation including certificates of conformity, material test reports (MTRs), and inspection packing lists.
- Ensure calibration status of measurement and test equipment and maintain records for traceability.
- Support quality planning by contributing to inspection and test plans, quality checklists, and hold point definitions; advise on acceptance criteria and risk areas.
- Collaborate with site teams to ensure timely resolution of quality issues and to prevent recurrence through lessons learned and training where needed.
- Prepare clear, accurate inspection reports and provide regular updates to the Quality Manager and project stakeholders.
- Promote a culture of quality, safety and inclusivity across the workforce, engaging with diverse teams and contractors to deliver consistent outcomes.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience as a QA/QC Inspector or similar role within shipbuilding, marine, heavy industry, or industrial fabrication environments.
- Relevant qualifications in Quality, Welding Inspection, NDT, or an engineering discipline (e.g., CSWIP, IWE, PCN, NVQ/HNC/HND or equivalent) are desirable.
- Practical knowledge of inspection techniques, NDT methods, welding standards, and material test documentation.
- Familiarity with international standards and codes relevant to marine and industrial projects (e.g., ISO9001, EN, AWS, DNV, Lloyd’s) and ability to apply them in practice.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to prepare clear inspection reports and interact with multicultural teams.
- Competent in using digital inspection tools and maintaining electronic quality records; MS Office proficiency is desirable.
- Willingness to work on-site in shipyards or industrial facilities, with flexibility for site hours and travel as required by project schedules.
