Role Overview

The Accredited Psychological Therapist will provide consultation, psychological support, training, and development to those supporting children and young people affected by developmental and relational trauma. The role involves a combination of direct work with children and systemic support, including psychological assessments, formulation, and intervention.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychological assessments and therapeutic interventions for children and young people.
  • Offer psychological consultation and reflective practice to professionals and systems supporting children.
  • Utilise trauma and attachment theories to formulate the needs of children.
  • Provide training and support to external organisations.
  • Attend relevant meetings to present assessments and review therapy outcomes.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Accreditation in a therapeutic approach or working towards it.
  • Experience with young people with complex presentations (e.g., CLA, LAC, CAMHS, YOT).
  • Training in therapeutic models relevant to young people (e.g., DDP, CFT, Mentalisation, DBT).
  • Ability to apply psychological theories to health and social care.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work autonomously.
  • Proficiency in assessment, formulation, and intervention, with a capacity to evaluate and measure outcomes.
  • Experience in coordinating therapeutic care and leading collaborative care planning.
  • Flexibility and responsiveness in dynamic and high-pressure environments.

Probation Expectations

The role includes a 6-month probationary period, featuring structured feedback, clinical competence reviews, and clear expectations around responsiveness and autonomy.
