Job summary

A leading consultancy firm in the UK is seeking an experienced Project Cost Consultant to provide Quantity Surveying and Cost Management services on complex projects in the Research, Technology, and Life Science sectors. You will prepare cost estimates, manage contractor proposals, and support career development in a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate has an MRICS qualification and relevant experience.

Qualifications

• MRICS Chartered Quantity Surveyor (or near attainment).
• Experience on complex construction projects, preferably in Research and Life Sciences.
• Experience leading lower-value projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide quantity surveying and cost management services on projects.
• Prepare cost estimates and feasibility studies.

Role description

We’re excited to grow our Life Science & Research Science Cost Management team. As an experienced Project Cost Consultant, you will provide professional Quantity Surveying and Cost Management services to high‑profile clients working on science facilities across the UK & Europe, with a focus on London, Oxford and Cambridge.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

• Provide quantity surveying and cost management services on projects ranging from inception to completion.
• Prepare cost estimates, feasibility studies, benchmarking and participate in the procurement process.
• Review and agree contractor proposals and manage contract performance.
• Support the team’s career development within a collaborative, multi‑disciplinary environment.

Qualifications & Experience

• MRICS Chartered Quantity Surveyor (or near attainment)
• Sound commercial and cost‑value knowledge
• Experience on complex construction projects, preferably in Research, Technology and Life Science sectors
• Experience leading lower‑value projects
• Strong stakeholder‑management and client‑relationship skills
• Ability to work independently and take initiative
• Some experience with Digital Cost Management and tools such as CostX, 5D BIM and Benchmarking
