Job description
Overview

Product Manager - Search at Tesco. We are looking for an experienced and data-driven Product Manager to lead the development of our Search and Browse capabilities within the Discovery team. This role is critical to how customers find, explore, and engage with products across Tesco markets and propositions. You will shape the product vision, strategy, and execution of scalable, API-based services and intuitive customer experiences that impact key business and customer metrics. You’ll be part of a supportive and high-trust product team that includes engineers, technical program managers, and designers, and you’ll collaborate with Tesco Labs, international markets, and data/analytics teams.

Responsibilities
  • Dive deep into complex data sets to uncover actionable insights and emerging trends. Use findings to drive data-informed decisions that maximize product value and support long-term strategic goals.
  • Design and scale intelligent, low-latency product discovery services. Continuously tune algorithmic parameters to optimize relevance, performance, and personalization at scale.
  • Lead the evolution of domain-specific APIs, deprecating legacy interfaces where appropriate. Ensure seamless transitions with minimal disruption to consumers and quantify the value of API modernization initiatives.
  • Identify and champion opportunities to apply advanced search and browse capabilities across diverse markets, platforms, and digital channels to enhance discovery experiences.
  • Translate business goals, user needs, and market dynamics into a forward-looking product roadmap. Prioritize initiatives that deliver measurable value, enhance agility, and position the organization for future growth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product Managers, Designers, Engineers, Data Scientists) to execute the roadmap using agile practices. Facilitate prioritization, resolve blockers, and ensure customer-centricity in every feature, sprint, and release.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies; experience writing effective user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Understanding of User Research and Design Thinking concepts.
  • Understanding of APIs and the art of the possible.
  • Experience with agile development teams and workflows within JIRA, Confluence, or similar systems.
What’s in it for you?
  • Annual bonus scheme of up to 20% of base salary.
  • Holiday starting at 25 days plus a personal day (plus Bank holidays).
  • Private medical insurance.
  • 26 weeks maternity and adoption leave (after 1 year’s service) at full pay, followed by 13 weeks of Statutory Maternity/Adoption Pay; 4 weeks fully paid paternity leave.
