Overview

The transmission and distribution sector is rapidly transforming with growing demand, regulatory changes and new innovations in technology. This is an exciting opportunity to join our Energy team and contribute to innovative and sustainable solutions for the UK energy transition.

We are seeking a Principal/Senior HV Plant Engineer to work within the HV team on electrical substation design projects, supporting FEED design and detailed design for refurbishment, extensions and new-build schemes. Projects may include HVDC, interconnectors, windfarms, substations, overhead lines, geotechnical solutions, building design, protection systems, LVAC, FEED and related power system components.

You will work with cross-disciplinary teams and with key T&D clients in the UK, contributing to a growing and collaborative team and helping develop innovative solutions and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of the HV team on electrical substation design projects, supporting FEED and detailed design for refurbishment, extensions and new-build schemes.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to deliver integrated FEED and detailed design solutions.
• Engage with clients and the wider energy team to drive efficient, compliant and high-quality designs.
• Contribute to development of sustainable and innovative solutions for the energy transition.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related technical field).
• Experience as HV Substation / Primary Plant Design Engineer with design and specification production for HV substation plant electrical power systems and components.
• Understanding of protection & control (P&C) aspects is preferable.
• Pro-active, team-oriented with knowledge of the electricity transmission and distribution industry; ability to coach and share knowledge within a wider energy team.
• Willingness to learn and adapt; open to candidates from varied technical backgrounds with suitable training (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
