We are part of Erewash Health Partnership which, in itself brings a wealth of support and possibilities, enabling our staff to work alongside staff from the other 8 member practices. We are high achieving in QOF and have Good CQC rating. Some of the wide range of duties involved will include COPD/Asthma/Diabetes/Minor illnesses/Immunisations/Travel advice/cervical smears/Learning disabilities and spirometry. List size 5,000. Main duties of the job
To provide a generic nursing service to our patients covering wound dressings, inoculations, disease prevention, health monitoring and management of patients registered with chronic diseases especially COPD and Spirometry where possible.
Job Description/Responsibilities
- To provide a generic nursing service to our patients covering wound dressings, inoculations, disease prevention, health monitoring and management of patients registered with chronic diseases especially COPD and Spirometry.
- To work to clinical protocols designed especially for this job to provide a high standard of clinical care.
- As part of the Practice Nurses team, to provide high quality patient care including evidence provided by QOF outcomes.
- To have a high standard of IT literacy to input patient consultations, adjust recalls for chronic disease patients and use read codes to maximise QOF performance whilst keeping to tight patient appointment slots.
- To take a full part in surgery inoculation programmes such as Seasonal Flu, Covid, HPV and Childhood Immunisation.
- To maintain confidentiality in all aspects of patient care to respect the patient and comply with GDPR legislation.
- To ensure patient records are accurate and comprehensive – promptly reporting abnormal clinical findings to the doctors and provide a high standard of patient care.
- To ensure high standards of cleanliness and understand how to avoid cross‑infection in order to prevent spread of disease.
- To be responsible for routine checks on medical equipment and record due dates for calibration, maintenance etc. to ensure equipment is working correctly.
- To complete appropriate professional development training to provide a baseline for further career/professional development.
Communications and Working Relationships
- Within the surgery – attending weekly clinical meetings with our GPs and other nursing staff as well as participating in monthly nurse meetings.
- With any Nursing organisations/outside bodies as appropriate such as Erewash Health Partnership.

- Previous Practice Nurse experience preferable.
