Pod-Trak is seeking an experienced Power Systems Engineer to play a key role in the design and technical development of electrical infrastructure projects, including grid connections, substations, and renewable energy interfaces. The role involves supporting feasibility, design, and delivery phases, providing expert input into network modelling, protection coordination, and system studies. You’ll work alongside civil and electrical engineering teams to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant power system solutions are developed for clients in the utilities, energy, and infrastructure sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake power systems studies including load flow, fault level, and protection coordination analysis
  • Support network design and modelling for high-voltage and medium-voltage systems
  • Review client and DNO/IDNO specifications to ensure compliance and alignment with project requirements
  • Prepare single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, and technical documentation
  • Provide engineering support for grid connection applications and compliance with ENA standards (G99, G5/5, P28, P29 etc.)
  • Coordinate with civil, design, and construction teams to ensure technical integration across disciplines
  • Liaise with suppliers, manufacturers, and clients to obtain and validate technical data
  • Support tendering activities through preparation of technical documentation and design inputs
  • Undertake site visits to support commissioning, testing, and verification where required
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of electrical design and delivery processes
Requirements
  • Degree-qualified in Electrical or Power Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven experience in power systems analysis and electrical design for HV/MV networks
  • Strong technical understanding of grid connection processes, standards, and system studies
  • Proficient in power systems software such as ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or IPSA
  • Knowledge of protection schemes, switchgear, and substation design principles
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills across multi-disciplinary projects
  • Understanding of health, safety, and CDM requirements for design activities
  • Experience working with DNOs, IDNOs, or ICPs
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards professional registration
  • Familiarity with battery storage, renewable energy, or data centre electrical systems
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD or BIM tools for electrical design coordination
