Who are we?

Smiths (Gloucester) Ltd is a family run business owned and run by the Smith family since 1982. Smiths has grown from a single owner-operated plant hire company to a multifaceted group with family values still firmly at the heart of each project undertaken. With depots in Avonmouth, Cardiff, Gloucester, Stonehouse and Tewkesbury we operate predominately across the South-West of England. We specialise in Construction, Waste Management, Plant Hire, Demolition and Transport operations.

We run a land drainage and groundworks department who specialise in land drainage, flood prevention and road works. We are looking for a groundworker who can operate plant to join the team to assist with works. You will work as part of a team of 3 on projects across Gloucestershire and surrounding counties.

The successful candidate must have a 360 machine ticket and experience in groundworks and operating a machine.

Responsibilities for the job role:

You will be required to work on a variety of projects including but not limited to:

• Land drainage
• Pipelines
• Pond and lake construction and clearing
• Environmental and wildlife construction and landscaping
• Flood prevention
• Equestrian areas

The successful candidate must:

• Have previous groundworks experience
• Have previous machine experience
• Hold relevant machine tickets including 360 above and below 10 tonne
• Be willing to work on a variety of projects as part of a team and on your own
