Job description
Operations Manager for the Materials Department

We are seeking to appoint an experienced and motivated Operations Manager for the Materials Division of the company. This role will sit at a senior level and will be responsible for leading all operations withing our quarries, materials, readymix and block operations, servicing the local market. The role will be based at our headoffice in Toomebridge and will involve the strategic development of aggregate operations to ensure the long term supply of materials.

Key Duties :

  • To manage the strategic long term operations of quarrying and recycling inert materials over the decades. Including managing planning and geological issues.
  • To manage the planning, sequencing and methods of extraction in a safe, efficient and timely manner.
  • To manage the strategic planning, for the continued aggregate extraction to ensure the best methods and for the prolonged life of the finite aggregate resources.
  • To assess programmed work and adjust production to suit, ensuring stock levels meet Company requirements.
  • To design and implement mixture recipes for the differing requirements within our factories.
  • To manage the annual budget for the Materials Department to ensure a profitable and efficient business
  • To lead sales within the local market, developing key customer relationships
  • To provide active leadership and management to a large and diverse department

Criteria :

  • Hold a senior role within the quarrying/extraction sector.
  • Have sound and practical knowledge of extraction regulations and processes.
  • Previous experience in a business development role within the local concrete/readymix sector.
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline such as engineering, chemical, environmental or mineral science would be a distinct advantage.
