The role of an On‑Board Manager at Avanti West Coast is essential to our success, with a focus on people and customer experience. It is a people‑oriented role that leads a team of on‑board caterers who deliver a safe and memorable service to our customers. (Please note: this role is not based onboard the train – it is a people‑management role, managing the Catering grade.)

Salary: £32,000 – £32,000 per annum.

Role Responsibilities
  • Manage team behaviours, supervise performance, sickness absence and availability, and provide feedback to address issues.
  • Lead and own the implementation of planned changes and support on‑board teams with new commercial activities.
  • Ensure safety of teams, maintaining compliance with safety standards.
  • Manage budgets in partnership with Finance Business Partner.
  • Deliver excellent customer service in all circumstances.
  • This post holds an “On Call” commitment and requires flexibility to work hours that suit the railway environment.
Qualifications & Experience

A proven track record of leadership in a fast‑paced environment, juggling multiple priorities. Flexibility, positive approach to managing and developing a team are key. Railway experience desirable but not essential.
