Overview

The Borgen Project is an international nonprofit that works at the political level to address global poverty. With 20 years of experience in advocacy, the organization supports efforts to influence poverty-focused policy and create measurable impact for people affected by war, famine and poverty. This is an unpaid internship, remote and part-time, offering 12 hours per week for 12 weeks. If availability is limited, the programme may be completed in fewer weeks.

Nonprofit Leadership Programme provides an insight into the key skills required to lead and develop a nonprofit organization. The programme includes Advocacy Leadership Development, Fundraising Development, Recruitment, and Marketing and Promotion.

Responsibilities
  • Advocacy Leadership Development – Meet with members of Government in your District/Constituency; represent The Borgen Project at various business, political and community events; mobilise individuals to contact their members of Government in support of key poverty-reduction legislation.
  • Fundraising Development – Learn how to fundraise. Create a personal fundraising campaign and meet targets.
  • Recruitment – Update job postings; inform groups and classes of openings; introduction to recruitment platforms and listen in to interviews.
  • Marketing and Promotion – Pitch story ideas to print, broadcast and digital media and utilise social media; develop strategies for web-based messaging.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience – No prior experience is necessary; we’re looking for people who are passionate about fighting poverty and righting wrongs, regardless of GPAs/background.

This is an unpaid internship, although college credit is available.
