Having built our network our strategic focus is to increase our customer connections, and we are looking for a talented NetDevOps Engineer to support us on the next step of our journey.

What you can expect in the role:

Our NetDevOps Engineer forms part of our dedicated Network Engineering Division, reporting to the Head of Networks, the role offers the opportunity to be responsible for automation, optimisation and streamlining Airband’s network automation tasks. The role is focused on integrating modern software practices into network operations to improve efficiency, scalability and reliability.

What you need to succeed in the Role:

You will have proven experience of working within NetDevOps or DevOps within a telecommunications carrier or internet service provider. Experience with APIs for networking and system.

Effective collaboration skills with the ability to work closely with software, network infrastructure, and NetDevOps teams. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills are key in order to troubleshoot complex network issues and develop automation solutions. You will have an adaptable and resilient attitude with a willingness to adopt and learn emerging tools and frameworks.

Plus:

  • CCNP or equivalent vendor certification, or appropriate experience is desirable.
  • Proficiency in Python, Perl, Go and Bash for scripting and automation.
  • Solid understanding of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS).
  • Experience with network hardware (e.g., routers, switches).
  • Familiarity with tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Chef, Nautobot.
  • Knowledge of tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Zabbix for performance and fault monitoring.

  • Provisioning and Configuration: Automating tasks such as deploying network devices, updating configurations, managing network resources.
  • Network Changes: Implementing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices for consistent and repeatable configuration changes.
  • Tools: Use automation tools like Ansible, Python scripts, Terraform, Github and custom CI/CD pipelines for managing the network infrastructure.
  • Monitoring and Performance Optimization Deploy systems to monitor network performance, health, analytics.
  • Automate alerting for issues such as high latency, packet loss, or other alarm conditions.
  • Use telemetry data and tools like Grafana, Prometheus, or SNMP-based systems to ensure network reliability.
  • Implement tools to analyse streaming telemetry and subsequently act on.
  • Integration with CI/CD Pipelines Incorporating network and system changes into CI/CD workflows. Automating testing and validation for network updates before deploying changes to production environments.
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams
  • Work with network engineering, network operations, and NetDevOps engineers to align networking with overall infrastructure goals.
  • Integrate networks seamlessly into larger application deployment processes.
  • Security Integration: Implement and automate security practices such as access control and compliance checks.
  • Use automation to maintain security baselines and address vulnerabilities quickly.
  • Scripting and Development: Write custom scripts in Python, Bash, or other languages to automate repetitive networking tasks.
  • Develop APIs or leverage existing APIs for integrating network management into broader IT systems.
  • Testing and Validation: Use simulation tools or virtual labs to test network changes.
  • Validate configurations and network policies through automated unit and integration tests.
