Job description

ReOrbit is looking for a Mission & Product Security Owner for Satellite Systems. The person will act as the security authority for ReOrbit satellite missions and products, ensuring that security expectations are met across the full life cycle from design through launch and operations.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing space company and play a critical role in building secure, software‑defined satellites for demanding commercial and sovereign missions.

Responsibilities
  • Acting as the Security Manager for satellite missions and ReOrbit satellite systems
  • Owning mission security plans and security commitments across design, software, AIT, launch, and operations
  • Defining, managing, and maintaining product and mission security requirements with customers and stakeholders
  • Maintaining threat models and mission‑specific security risk registers
  • Embedding security by design principles into satellite, ground, and manufacturing engineering
  • Assessing and managing supply‑chain and third‑party security risks
  • Monitoring, assessing, and responding to product and supply‑chain vulnerabilities
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant cyber security, space, and classified information protection standards
  • Acting as a trusted security counterpart for sovereign and classified customers
  • Approving, blocking, or requiring remediation for satellite deliveries, launches, and customer acceptances on security grounds
Skills and Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in cyber security, product security, or mission/system security
  • Hands‑on experience working closely with engineering teams in regulated or safety‑critical environments
  • Proven experience owning security risks and requirements with end‑to‑end accountability
  • Strong skills in threat modeling, security risk management, and requirements management
  • Solid knowledge of ISO 27001 / ISO 27002, NIS2, or equivalent framework
  • NIST 800‑53 or related NIST standards
  • Requirements for protecting classified information (e.g. KATAKRI, EU/ESA/NATO R/C/S)
  • Space security standards (e.g. ECSS‑E‑ST‑80C)
  • Background in aerospace, space, defence, telecom, or similar industries

Location of the role

  • This role can be based either at our HQ in Helsinki. We support relocation to Helsinki, and integration into Finnish society.
