Job description

The Material Control Planner ensures the efficient and timely flow of materials from external suppliers to support TECNIQ’s production schedules and customer delivery requirements for high-end automotive programmes.

Working closely with external suppliers, Scheduling, Purchasing, Production, and Operations, the role maintains optimal material availability to support seamless production. Key responsibilities include managing the supply of carbon fibre, CNC-machined, and painted components to meet project timelines and customer demands for low-volume, ultra-premium vehicles.

In addition we deliver full vehicle development, including chassis and powertrain, to high net-worth heritage racers via our heritage racing division, ADP Classic Racing. We restore and rebuild high-end classic racing cars, prepare drivers, manage a programme of touring and racing, and provide full event support.

Roles and Responsibilities

This role is based at our Witham engineering facility.

  • Plan, schedule, and monitor the movement of materials to meet production and customer delivery requirements.
  • Create and manage Material Requirements Plans (MRP) to support production demand and project timelines.
  • Collaborate closely with the Production Scheduler to align material deliveries with build schedules and engineering requirements.
  • Work with the Purchasing Department to ensure materials are ordered in line with production plans.
  • Liaise with suppliers to resolve material shortages, delivery issues, and expedite orders when required.
  • Maintain accurate records of supplier performance, lead times, and delivery reliability.
  • Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess stock and take corrective action when needed.
  • Update and maintain accurate ERP/MRP data, including bills of materials, lead times, and reorder points.
  • Analyse material usage, demand forecasts, and stock performance to support decision-making.
  • Support new project launches by ensuring material availability aligns with production and engineering schedules.
  • Manage material control processes for key components such as carbon fibre, CNC-machined parts, and painted assemblies.
  • Liaise with Operations Managers and Department Heads to communicate material status, priorities, and risks.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance material flow, reduce waste, and optimise inventory control.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on material availability, inventory performance, supplier compliance, and supply risks.
  • Identify and mitigate potential supply chain disruptions that may impact production or delivery schedules.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and Health & Safety standards within the material control function
Skills & Experience Required
  • Proven experience in material control, production planning, or supply chain coordination within a manufacturing environment (automotive or engineering preferred).
  • Strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems (such as Progress Plus or similar) and inventory management principles.
  • Solid knowledge of material flow, supplier management, and production scheduling processes.
  • Understanding of composite materials, machined components, and painted parts is highly desirable.
  • Strong numeracy and data analysis abilities, with proven proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced) and other data visualisation tools.
  • Skilled in analysing large datasets to identify trends, discrepancies, or areas for improvement.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent organisational, planning, and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Proactive and analytical approach to identifying and resolving issues, supporting continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise confidently across all levels of the business and with external suppliers.
  • Effective in building relationships, collaborating in cross-functional teams, and working in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
  • Professional, accountable, and adaptable, with a calm and solution-focused approach.
  • Capable of giving and receiving constructive feedback and influencing others diplomatically
