Overview

Maintenance Superintendent role at Arconic located in Kitts Green, Birmingham, United Kingdom.

Responsibilities
  • Provide professional engineering and maintenance support through appropriate expertise, including direct management and supervision of the KG Machine Shop, PdM activities, the Maintenance Planning Department, coordinating training activities, and monitoring insurance compliance.
  • Act as deputy and stand-in for the Maintenance Manager when required.
  • Develop the Maintenance Planning Department and improve the efficiency of the Machine Shop.
  • Generate meaningful KPIs with Engineering and Maintenance Management to track department performance and focus action plans on key areas.
  • Manage the Machine Shop and Planning department; ensure KG fulfills its compliance obligations (e.g., lifting tackle & crane inspections, LEV inspections, receiver inspections, etc.).
  • Ensure the Planned Maintenance schedule is accurate and aligned with business needs.
  • Assist with shutdown planning and work with Area Engineers and Area Team Leaders to develop, improve, and progress maintenance procedures and reliability.
  • Support Area Engineers where required; perform as stand-in for the Maintenance Manager.
  • Ensure an accurate training plan for personnel within the department and monitor compliance.
  • Develop PdM activities and work toward a Condition Based Monitoring methodology.
  • Coordinate spares and the refurbishment program with Area Engineers and Team Leaders.
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager with management and coordination of the apprentice training program.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
  • HNC/HND (Mechanical or Electrical engineering) from an accredited institution.
  • Experience or a strong desire to work within a manufacturing/production environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills capable of liaising at all levels.
  • Leadership experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical knowledge in heavy engineering and fast-paced production environments.
  • Ability to analyze technically complex problems and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to work with others at all levels and positively influence a team, with a proven record of implementing change in engineering and maintenance environments.
