Job description

Position: Legal Intelligence Researcher & Content Strategist
Location: Edinburgh

We're building the intelligence operation that keeps lawyers ahead of the AI revolution. You'll be the research engine behind a media platform that transforms complex legal developments into content that lawyers actually want to consume and share.

What You'll Do
  1. Hunt for Stories That Matter

    1. Monitor legal AI developments, regulatory changes, and market movements that practicing lawyers care about

    2. Identify trends before they become mainstream talking points

    3. Find the human stories behind technical developments - the career implications, the strategic decisions, the mistakes and successes

  2. Build the Guest Network

    1. Develop relationships with potential interview subjects across the legal ecosystem

    2. Convince busy legal executives to share their real experiences and insights

    3. Prepare research that helps hosts ask questions that generate quotable moments and practical takeaways

  3. Create Content Intelligence

    1. Transform complex legal tech developments into compelling narratives for weekly content streams

    2. Identify what makes lawyers want to share content with colleagues

    3. Navigate industry tensions and controversial topics in ways that generate discussion without creating enemies

  4. Community Integration

    1. Monitor community discussions to spot emerging questions and concerns

    2. Ensure content addresses real practitioner needs and interests

    3. Track engagement patterns and adjust research priorities accordingly

Who You Are
  1. Legal Foundation: LLB, DLP, or equivalent legal training with understanding of how law firms and legal departments actually operate

  2. Story Instincts: You naturally spot the interesting angle in legal developments - the contrarian viewpoint, the personal stakes, the behind-the-scenes decisions that others miss

  3. Curiosity & Speed: You can quickly synthesize information from multiple sources and identify key insights under tight deadlines

  4. Relationship Builder: You're comfortable reaching out to senior legal professionals and building the trust needed for exclusive insights

  5. Anti-Boring: You understand why most legal content fails to engage and have specific ideas about what would make lawyers actually want to consume and share content

What We're Looking For

Someone who can spot the stories that matter - not just the press releases, but the real implications. You might ask "What's the contrarian view on this AI implementation?" or "What would you tell a junior lawyer about navigating this change?" You understand that lawyers share content when it helps them look smart to their colleagues or addresses their genuine concerns about the future.

You're not writing academic papers or regulatory summaries. You're finding the insights that make a Managing Partner forward an article to their team, or that make a GC bookmark a video to show their board.

How to Apply
  1. Writing Sample: 500-word analysis of a recent legal AI development that demonstrates your ability to find the compelling angle

  2. Content Critique: Review any legal tech content and tell us specifically what's missing and how you'd improve it

  3. Interview Ideas: List 5 people you'd want to interview about legal AI and the specific questions you'd ask to generate engaging content
