Job description

Salary: £26,389 - £51,934 per annum (dependent on experience)

Cardiff and Vale College is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Plumbing. The successful candidate will be able to deliver and assess on courses at differing levels:

  • Plumbing Level 1, Level 2 Full Time
  • Plumbing Level 2 and Level 3 Part Time Apprentices

The successful candidate will be required to undertake all pedagogic work such as lesson preparation, classroom teaching, tutorial work and marking. Other responsibilities include:

  • Conducting student assessments in order to place students, monitor progress and identify learning support needs.
  • Providing appropriate student support in order to meet both the academic and welfare needs of learners and ensuring that all relevant information is recorded on the appropriate College systems.
  • Taking part in course evaluation activities and contributing to the development of the curriculum.
  • An involvement in marketing, i.e. identification of consumer requirements, creating appropriate publicity materials and working with external agencies where appropriate.
  • Welsh language skills would be desirable for this post.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Hold a vocational qualification in Plumbing to a Level 3 standard and have relevant domestic experience. Industrial/commercial experience is desirable.
  • Must also hold a relevant teaching qualification or be willing to work towards obtaining one. A relevant assessor qualification is desirable.
  • Qualifications in Renewable Technologies would be desirable.
  • Registration with the Educational Workforce Council for Wales (EWC Wales) is a mandatory requirement of the post.
