Lead Medicines Information, Formulary and Pathways Pharmacist

Apply for the Lead Medicines Information, Formulary and Pathways Pharmacist role at the Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking for a highly motivated, forward‑thinking, dynamic individual to join our senior team, who is keen to learn, innovate and push the service forward. You will have excellent organisational and people skills and the ability to work with and influence staff within the Trust and across Northeast London IC.

The post holder will be a key member of the senior Pharmacy team, delivering a high‑quality Medicines Information service to clinical staff and patients, whilst developing effective working relationships within a multidisciplinary setting both at the Trust and the wider North East London IC.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage the medicines information service, including the Patient Helpline, ensuring delivery of a high‑quality, efficient and well‑regarded service.
  • Answer core enquiries, providing professional, clinical and scientific information and advice to healthcare professionals and patients.
  • Manage rotational band 6/7 pharmacists, provide in‑depth medicines information training, set objectives and conduct appraisals.
  • Maintain the computerised database (Mi Databank) for all medicines information enquiries and ensure record keeping complies with legal requirements and professional standards.
  • Record and analyse workload statistics for medicines information, highlighting and proactively managing anticipated demands on the service.
  • Attend UKMI conferences, collaborate with the regional MI centre and UKMI in quality assurance programmes, including internal and external audits, user satisfaction surveys and benchmarking data collection.
  • Lead and coordinate MHRA drug recalls at Homerton, appraising drug shortages and recommending alternative drug supplies.
Qualifications
  • Experienced clinical pharmacist with a substantial track record providing Medicines Information services.
  • Excellent time‑management skills and a proven ability to introduce new drugs into a formulary.
  • Extensive experience delivering clinical pharmacy services in a hospital setting.
  • Successfully completed a Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent hospital pharmacy experience.
