We are seeking a skilled Lead Electrical Engineer with expertise in Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems (EWIS) to lead a multidisciplinary team on an innovative aerospace program. This role focuses on leading a team of Electrical Engineers in the development and delivery of design data for EWIS physical design, as well as a team of designated design checkers. The position requires a deep understanding of aircraft zones, potential risk factors, and degradation mechanisms affecting wiring systems, and the ability to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders within the UK Research & Technology (R&T) environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage EWIS technology projects within UK R&T programs, ensuring compliance with EASA and CS-25 regulations.
- Oversee the design, integration, and validation of aircraft electrical wiring systems using CATIA V5 and 3DEXPERIENCE tools.
- Provide technical leadership to design teams, validate deliverables, and ensure high-quality engineering outputs.
- Coordinate project activities with program managers, partners, and suppliers to meet scope, schedule, and quality objectives.
- Manage team performance—assign tasks, mentor engineers, and resolve technical issues.
- Ensure all designs, documentation, and test activities adhere to company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the technical focal point for stakeholders, reporting progress, risks, and results to management.
- Produce and review project deliverables including 3D/2D designs, test plans and reports, TRL dossiers, and engineering notes.
Qualifications
- HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Essential Skills
- Strong knowledge of EASA EWIS regulations and CS-25 certification requirements.
- Proven experience in aeronautical electrical harness design and wiring integration.
- Proficiency in CATIA V5 and 3DEXPERIENCE for 3D/2D electrical design.
- Solid understanding of aircraft zone management, wiring degradation factors, and system safety principles.
- Experience working within R&T (Research & Technology) or aerospace development environments.
- Strong project management and team leadership skills with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication and technical reporting abilities.
- Ability to manage suppliers, assess technical risks, and ensure project quality and compliance.
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
Desired Skills
- Working knowledge of PLM tools, documentation standards, and engineering configuration control.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira).
- Additional European language skills (e.g., French or German) are an advantage.
Experience
- Proven track record in the design, integration, and certification of EWIS for large aircraft.
- Extensive experience in the aerospace industry, ideally within an EASA Part 21J or equivalent design organization.
- Demonstrated experience leading R&T or innovation projects involving electrical system development and validation.
- Hands-on experience producing and reviewing 3D/2D harness designs, test plans, and engineering documentation using CATIA V5 and 3DEXPERIENCE.
- Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary engineering teams and managing supplier deliverables.
- Strong background in aircraft system installation, wiring routing, and zonal analysis.
- Familiarity with CS-25 compliance demonstration, EWIS safety assessments, and design assurance processes.
- Experience presenting technical findings, risk assessments, and project progress to senior management and external partners.
