Salary: £ (depending on experience)
Hours of work: 07:15 to 16:00 Monday -Friday
Accountable to: Operations Manager/Team Leader

Lead Climber plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and professional delivery of tree surgery projects. As a Lead Climber, you will carry out challenging and technical tree work to the highest professional standards. You will share and promote our company values of teamwork, professionalism, great customer service, accountability, and communication in all aspects of your work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of arborists and ground staff to deliver high-quality tree surgery safely and efficiently.
  • Undertake advanced climbing, pruning, dismantling, and other tree works.
  • Drive and maintain company vehicles, carrying out routine checks and reporting issues promptly.
  • Ensure effective communication between clients, management, support staff, and operational teams.
  • Undertake and oversee health & safety requirements, including risk assessments, safe systems of work, and post-job performance reviews.
  • Manage resources responsibly, contributing to the financial efficiency of the company.
  • Maintain and update your professional knowledge in line with industry best practice and company requirements.
  • Keep all professional qualifications and training current and valid.
  • Ensure all company and client information is handled confidentially and in line with data protection requirements.
  • Perform any other duties commensurate with the role as required by TBTS.
Personal Specification

Qualifications

  • Level 3 Certificate in Arboriculture (or equivalent).
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Relevant NPTC/LANTRA climbing and chainsaw qualifications.
  • NPTC Unit 41 (dismantling) or equivalent.
  • MEWP operator’s certificate.
  • Valid First Aid qualification.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong understanding of industry best practice in arboriculture.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and workloads.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong customer service skills to support client satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Competent IT skills (email, digital documents, record-keeping).

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the arboricultural industry (essential).
  • Experience in maintaining tree surgery equipment (vehicles, chippers, saws, ladders, etc.).
