Join to apply for the Land Surveying Technician role at Thew Associates PE-LS, PLLC.

Thew Associates PE-LS, PLLC is a land and hydrographic surveying and mapping firm headquartered in Canton, New York, with branch offices in Marcy (Utica), Saranac Lake, and Syracuse, New York.

We are seeking highly motivated land surveyors at our Canton, Marcy, and Syracuse facilities to perform various surveying and mapping services, including:

  • Topographic, boundary retracement, construction, hazardous waste site, and as-built surveying
  • Hydrographic surveys (multi- and single-beam acoustic, ADCP, magnetometer, sub-bottom profiling, sediment sampling)
  • Terrestrial laser scanning and sUAS (drone) services

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • A.A.S. in Surveying Technology or B.S. in Surveying Engineering
  • Two years' experience in field surveys
  • Knowledge of Trimble GPS/GNSS devices, robotic total stations, and data collection devices
  • Experience with static and RTK GPS/GNSS surveys
  • Skills in traversing, differential leveling, document research, boundary line reconnaissance, and property line blazing
  • Topographic survey experience for engineering design, with clear field notes and sketches
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (preferably Civil 3D)
  • Willingness to travel and stay out-of-town frequently
  • Valid driver's license
  • Willingness to learn new technologies

Highly desirable additional skills:

  • Proficiency with Civil 3D (Release 2013 or higher)
  • Experience with single- and/or multi-beam acoustic sonar and Hypack hydrographic surveying software

Candidates should have strong math and computer skills, be proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, and Excel, and be able to work independently.

Salary will be commensurate with experience.
