Junior Electrical Engineer

KURY UK Ltd is part of an international company, Kury Groupe, 100% dedicated to the nuclear field and created 22 years ago. Since then, we have been working with EDF (French Electricity Producer). We are involved in several nuclear projects, including FA3 EPR (France), the French fleet, Taishan EPR (China), Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C. We are now looking for engineers to join our Team in the UK. Our human-sized structure (100 employees worldwide) allows us to devote ourselves to mentoring and training our engineers. We take special care of our employees’ development by ensuring them quality projects through which they will increase their skills.

You enjoy analysing concrete problems, finding solutions and then setting them up. Getting involved in significant industrial and engineering projects involving very demanding precautions as regards industrial safety captivates you. Your good analytical skills, sense of logic, aptitude for synthesizing and your scientific knowledge will allow you to adapt quickly to multi-system environments. The role

You will support the construction of the two projects by answering requests coming from building and erection contractors on the Electrical discipline. You will be in charge of the following activities:

  • Answering site requests on the electrical scope by: gathering all needed input data, producing an assessment based on these data and formalising it in a form, performing calculations when requested (support calculation, plate calculation, cable calculation, etc), ensuring that all the impacts of site activities on the design are well identified and managed (Design Changes, Open Points, Redlines, etc).
  • Reporting to the Electrical Discipline Manager and attending team meetings.
  • Contributing to the closure of design open points after the delivery of Electrical design packages to site.
  • Anticipating and raising alerts on open technical points.
  • Collecting and organising the lessons learnt.
  • Being part of Joint Design Office Electrical team, participating in Team meetings, sharing technical topics.
  • Under the supervision of the Electrical Discipline lead.

As part of the project, the engineer will belong to a multi-disciplinary and multicultural environment, with high expectations on delivery time, schedule, safety and nuclear safety.

Key responsibilities

  • Informing other disciplines when transverse impact occurs.
  • Informing checker and approver as soon as the answer is ready.
  • Informing the manager when a topic needs escalation.

During the first months, you can count on the KURY Team to assist you all along your projects. This experience will give you the opportunity to move on to other projects in the medium term: you will tackle varied but complementary projects, studies and technical topics. Your understanding of the technical and environmental challenges will allow you to take on complex and critical transversal studies.

REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Knowledge in cable sizing, electrical equipment installation (switchboards, transformers), design of electrical network, earthing and protections.
  • Ability to effectively manage own workload in order to respect tight deadlines.
  • Rigorous and meticulous.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Curious and eager to learn.
DESIRABLE SKILLS
  • Relevant experience and knowledge in the nuclear field.
  • Experience in using Naviswork software, 3D modelling.
  • Experience in electrical layout.
  • Able to drive and challenge people.
