Are you ready to shape the future of our infrastructure? We're looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to join our team and drive key projects. You'll be instrumental in boosting our infrastructure's performance and fortifying its security, making a tangible impact on our operations.

Beyond project work, you'll also be a go-to person for supporting and resolving technical issues which arise from our technical teams, ensuring our teams stay productive and empowered. If you're a proactive problem-solver with a passion for robust and secure systems, we want to hear from you!

Reporting and Working Relationships

You'll report directly to our Lead Infrastructure Specialist who in turn reports to the CIO and you will be joining our close-knit Infrastructure team. We're a small, collaborative group, so we really rely on each other and work closely together.

We work in 2-week Scrum sprints and kick off each day with a stand-up. This keeps us nimble, helps unblock any challenges quickly, and ensures we're all focused on the most important work.

Responsibilities

  • You'll be a key player in supporting our primarily Microsoft-based infrastructure, ensuring its smooth operation and reliability.
  • We'll count on you to complete project work in a timely and efficient manner, driving progress and delivering tangible results
  • While we know it's not always the most exciting task, your ability to clearly log and document your work is absolutely essential for our business continuity – it's how we all stay on the same page and keep things running seamlessly.
  • You'll be a master communicator, building strong relationships by engaging with our internal customers and third-party partners both verbally and in writing. Clarity and effectiveness are your superpowers here.

Skills, Abilities & Experience

You're a highly skilled individual with a strong background in both traditional IT infrastructure and modern cloud security practices. You're not just a thinker, you're a doer – someone who thrives on hands-on technical work while also bringing strategic thinking. Of course, you're an effective communicator, able to articulate complex ideas clearly. You'll also bring at least 5 years of experience in relevant roles.

Required Skills

High level of experience with Microsoft technologies including:

  • Windows Server and Desktop
  • Active Directory, Entra, Hybrid domains
  • Group Policies, 365, Intune, Teams, SharePoint, NTFS

Networking:

  • TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, Wi-Fi
  • DNS (internal and global DNS provider management)
  • Experience with networking hardware (e.g., Cisco/Fortinet FortiGate)

Security (highly focused role):

  • System security hardening
  • Policy creation and rollout
  • Security best practices across all environments
  • Security compliance: GDPR, PCI, ISO27001
  • Working with external penetration testers
  • Antivirus management: oversight of incidents, rollout of new policies, adaptation to emerging threats
  • Cyber security tools: management across endpoints, email, networks, incident response
  • Email security management
  • Certificate management: installation and renewal of SSL/TLS certificates on web servers, network devices, etc.
  • Domain management: both internal and external
  • Human firewall: oversight of tools like KnowBe4 for staff training and security awareness; collaborate with training team on new procedures and material
  • Design, deploy, administer, and monitor Azure infrastructure using best practices
  • Experience with VNET, VPN, NSG, DNS, PaaS resources, resource groups, etc.
  • Strong understanding of IAM including RBAC
  • Datacentre hardware: occasional physical installations/configurations required
  • Monitoring and log management: experience with SIEM and monitoring tools

Soft Skills

  • Love for technology and problem solving
  • Security-focused mindset
  • Common sense
  • Project management:
  • Experience working on large projects over several months
  • Ability to prioritize effectively, understanding the difference between importance and urgency
  • Fluent in English with competent math skills
  • Resourceful, self-motivated, and dependable — someone others might describe as a “geek” (in the best way!)
  • Strong teamwork ethos
  • Excited about keeping things neat and tidy
  • Meticulous attention to detail
