ICT Field Engineer

We are seeking an experienced ICT Field Engineer to join our dynamic ICT team covering the Kendal area and based at South Lakeland House. This role is critical in providing technical support services for all ICT end-users across the Council, ensuring systems and services run smoothly and efficiently.

About The Role
  • Deliver advanced 2nd line ICT support for incidents and requests across the Council and some external users.
  • Evaluate, install, configure, and support a wide range of ICT products and equipment via remote tools or on-site visits.
  • Conduct site surveys, manage office moves, and oversee commissioning/decommissioning of Council sites.
  • Act as the technical lead for specific technologies, liaising with end-users, ICT teams, and third‑party suppliers.
  • Provide technical expertise to deliver projects and service improvement initiatives within agreed milestones.
  • Analyse and resolve hardware/software issues, interpreting diagnostics and liaising with suppliers for successful resolution.
  • Deliver technical and user training when required and contribute to service improvement and business continuity planning.
About You
  • Strong technical knowledge of ICT systems, hardware, and software.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving complex ICT issues.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • A proactive approach to problem‑solving and service improvement.
Essential Criteria
  • Relevant ICT qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in ICT support within a large organisation.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft technologies, networking principles, and diagnostic tools.
  • Full UK driving licence (travel between sites required).

This role is available on a Permanent basis.
