Role summary

Reporting to the Head of HR, this is a true generalist role with a unique opportunity to shape how our business thinks about and experiences HR. You’ll support colleagues at all levels — based at our offices in Kentford and our UK-wide Sales team — and be central to key HR operations and change initiatives.

Core responsibilities
  • Collaborating with the Head of HR to deliver the people strategy and support our goal of building a high-performance, engaged culture
  • Owning the monthly payroll process in partnership with our third-party provider – accuracy and attention to detail are essential
  • Acting as a trusted partner to employees and managers, providing advice across ER, wellbeing, and engagement initiatives
  • Supporting the ongoing development of our HRIS (Hi-Bob – launched in 2024) and other systems and processes to drive efficiency and enable self-service
  • Supporting benefits administration, employee lifecycle activities, and internal comms tools and initiatives
  • Delivering toolkits, coaching and training to upskill managers across the business
  • Getting stuck into the day-to-day – no task is too big or small when it helps move us forward
What we are looking for

We are looking for someone who is up for a challenge, can deal with ambiguity and fast-paced change, and who can support employees, managers and leaders during this time, at all levels and across multiple operational HR tasks. You have gained experience of payroll and worked in a similar role and also demonstrate:

  • Proven experience and confidence in processing payroll and data analysis
  • Understanding and up to date knowledge of UK employment law and related processes
  • Experience of providing support and solutions to managers across the full range of employee relations areas (including grievance/disciplinary, restructures, absence management)
  • Confidence to operate independently, in sometimes ambiguous circumstances, using own initiative to make practical decisions
  • Comfort in working with, understanding and producing employee data and reporting, using a variety of techniques – experience of HRIS back end; Hi-Bob is an advantage
  • Empathetic style with strong influencing skills and solutions-focused approach
  • Sense of humour, resilience and the ability to see the positive in every situation
