Faculty, History – History Teaching Faculty

Rappahannock Community College (RCC) seeks a faculty‑ranked, on‑campus teaching position in History for a nine‑month appointment beginning August 16, 2026. Salary is commensurate with education and experience, but will not be less than $58,000.

Responsibilities

• Maintain quality history curriculum and teach high‑quality courses, including instructional design, delivery, effectiveness, and subject‑matter expertise.
• Teach 15 credit hours per semester.
• Provide academic advising, hold student office hours, recruit students, and engage in community outreach.
• Mentor adjunct and dual instructors and serve on college committees.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting during emergencies per state government declaration.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in History or Master’s with at least 18 graduate semester hours in History.
• Knowledge of effective pedagogical practices.
• Ability to define and assess student learning outcomes.
• Experience creating courses with instructional teaching platforms and advanced instructional technology (video, audio, interactive software).
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Experience

• One year of post‑secondary or community‑college teaching experience.
• 18 graduate credits in a second teaching discipline.
