As Head of Mechanical Engineering, you will be responsible for leading and managing our mechanical engineering activities and team.

As part of our ongoing expansion we are looking to recruit an experienced Head of Mechanical Engineering to join our team. This role will lead the mechanical engineering department in the development of innovative mission critical mobile communication products.

Role: Our customer base includes many different industries and markets around the world. Our complete TETRA and LTE solutions have been developed specifically for users in multiple sectors to face their critical communications challenges. There is no such thing as a typical day here at Sepura. You will be supported by your manager and team, as well as collaborating with other departments across the business.

Activities you will be responsible for include:
  • Leading and managing the mechanical engineering team to develop and maintain our range of products.
  • Collaborating with cross‑functional teams to ensure product requirements are met.
  • Overseeing the design, development, and testing of mechanical components and systems.
  • Ensuring all mechanical engineering projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Developing and implementing departmental policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Mentoring and providing professional growth opportunities for team members.
  • Staying up to date with the latest trends and advancements in mechanical engineering and portable product development.

This role involves occasional travel so the successful applicant will have a full, clean driving licence and own car. Travel expenses will be paid.

What you need to succeed
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
Experience and Skills
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a mechanical engineering department.
  • Extensive experience in the development of consumer products (mobile devices is a plus).
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, manufacturing processes, injection molding and engineering software.
  • Proficient in CAD design tools 2D / 3D (CREO, SolidWorks), mechanical simulation tools (ANSYS).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
  • The ability to develop and maintain good working relationships and challenge where necessary.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • The tenacity to achieve challenging goals.
  • An analytical thinker with a logical and methodical approach to identifying issues and solutions.
  • Experience with developing, implementing, monitoring and reporting KPIs.
  • The ability to research, identify, implement and monitor innovative solutions.
