Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Audiology professional to lead our established, multi-site service across Worcestershire. In this senior leadership role, you will shape strategy, oversee operations, and provide advanced clinical leadership across Adult and Paediatric Audiology, including ENT support, vestibular assessment, and Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT).

At Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, we believe hearing care is more than a clinical service; it’s a lifeline. For many people, hearing loss can make it harder to connect and communicate, leading to feelings of isolation. In this role, you will lead a service dedicated to helping our patients.

As Head of Audiology, you will guide a talented team across our three hospital sites and local community hospitals. You will shape the service strategy, drive innovation, and influence decision-making at the highest level.

You will also champion education, support staff development, and explore research opportunities, ensuring our teams have the right tools, skills, and support they need to succeed. Guided by our Trust values, you will be supported by an experienced operational and clinical leadership structure.

We are looking for an Audiology leader who wants to shape the future, someone who can see not just the service as it is, but what it could become. This is a chance to make a difference: giving people hearing, restoring connections, and improving lives.

If you are a highly developed and experienced post‑graduate qualified Audiologist, Hearing Therapist, or Clinical Scientist (Audiology), with proven leadership experience, we would really like to hear from you. Informal conversations are warmly encouraged and welcomed.

Contract: Permanent (flexible working options available)
Salary level: Band 8b, £64,455 to £74,896 a year
Your role and impact

  • Lead and develop Adult and Paediatric Audiology services across our three hospital sites and community settings, working in partnership with the Operational Manager, Clinical Director, and Matron as part of the senior leadership team.
  • Provide strategic, professional, and operational leadership, including governance, safety, quality assurance, workforce planning, and service redesign.
  • Represent Audiology at Trust Board level, regional forums, and commissioning discussions.
  • Maintain senior clinical oversight of complex pathways, including paediatric diagnostics, vestibular assessment, electrophysiology, and Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT).
  • Explore and support research and innovation opportunities.
  • Oversee financial planning and hold responsibility for the Audiology budget.
  • Champion a high‑quality training environment for BSc, PTP, STP, and HTS students.
  • Empower a high‑performing team through effective line management, supervision, coaching, and development.
  • Ensure compliance with national guidelines, professional standards, and work towards IQIPS accreditation.

What we’re looking for

  • A motivated individual with both clinical and leadership experience in a multi‑site Audiology service.
  • MSc (Level 7) in Audiology or equivalent specialist expertise, plus a postgraduate management/leadership qualification (Level 7).
  • CAC / BAAT Pt 1+2 / HTS or equivalent practical qualifications.
  • Registered AHCS Audiologist or HCPC Clinical Scientist (Audiology).
  • Extensive senior‑level clinical experience, including specialist paediatric and adult pathways.
  • Proven track record in service development, staff management, clinical governance, and quality improvement.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with a collaborative, supportive approach.
