This role is an integral part of the Electrical Engineering discipline, focused on projects that span the full lifecycle from feasibility through to detailed design, particularly in the areas of energy transition, nuclear development, and wastewater treatment.

Joining Costain means enrolling in a Graduate Development Programme accredited by the Institute of Engineering Technology. Designed to build your technical, personal, and leadership capabilities, this programme provides “on-the-job” training with real responsibilities and technical mentorship. As a graduate electrical engineer, you will gain exposure to a broad range of work across multi-disciplinary teams while receiving guidance towards professional chartership.

Your Role and Responsibilities

In this role, you will contribute to all stages of project development including feasibility studies, concept and front-end engineering design, and detailed site activities. You’ll be involved in preparing design documents such as electrical load schedules, power system studies, and equipment specifications. Additionally, you’ll work with 3D modelling tools, produce layout drawings, and contribute to installation documentation. There is also the potential to experience business functions like marketing, proposals, and HSE as part of your rotation within the organisation.

What We Look For

To be considered, you must have or expect to achieve a strong MEng (or equivalent) in an IET-accredited Electrical Engineering degree. You should be capable of achieving UK Security Clearance for work in the nuclear sector and have a full UK driving license. Ideal candidates are adaptable, collaborative, and eager to contribute to Costain’s Net Zero vision. Proficiency in MS Office, strong communication skills, and the ability to work under tight deadlines are essential. You should also be prepared to travel to remote project sites when needed.
