A Geotechnical Site Technician / Assistant Driller is required to join the Testing Services department in Norwich, to work on a range of site investigation projects across East Anglia and further afield. Experience is an advantage, however not essential as in house training will be provided, with the potential opportunity for the right candidate to progress to an NVQ 2 Technician. Candidates as a minimum should have numeracy and literacy to GCSE Grade 4. Candidates must have a clean UK driving licence and be over twenty-one for insurance purposes, they should also be hard working and not afraid to get their hands dirty.
The duties and responsibilities of the role typically involve SITE WORK: working outdoors, in locations such as agricultural fields and construction sites, collecting soil samples and testing ground conditions to allow our engineers to compile reports for clients. The role involves sample handling, storage and disposal, specialist ground drilling (dynamic sampling & probe testing), breaking out hard standing, hand-dug shallow excavations, and undertaking in-situ testing.
Suitable training will be provided for all parts of the role, including in-situ testing and drilling methods. The candidate will be expected to take an active role, being responsible for the accuracy of the testing they complete, and become an integral part of the team.
