Who We’re Looking For

Service Engineers will uphold the operational functionality and presentation of Wernick Power Solutions (WPS) equipment, including generators, diesel tanks, distribution systems, cabling, and associated ancillaries.

Reporting to the Service Manager, you will conduct routine inspections, testing, servicing, attend breakdowns and repairs, and perform installation and commissioning tasks while maintaining our high standards of customer service, safety, and quality.

Note: you will be required to be on call – this is on a rota basis and you will receive additional pay for being on call and paid for any call outs you do.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to and promote SHEQ group standards.
  • Achieve optimum, yet safe productivity levels with designated workload.
  • Manage all transactional elements of the role, such as breakdowns, services, PDI’s, determining damage, and timesheets.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
  • Provide Safety Observations for any unsafe practice in the depot or on a customer site.
  • Ensure overdue servicing is kept below 6% of total fleet in your designated area.
  • Maintain all training and competencies via the PDP skills matrix.
  • Support the Depot and Service Manager as required.
  • Keep the company vehicle in good condition and stocked with appropriate tools, oils, consumables, and safety equipment.
  • Seek time for self‑development via training platforms, online learning hubs, and structured training sessions.
  • Provide support for colleagues when needed.
  • Ensure depot and engineering standards.
Essential Criteria
  • Mechanical or electrical discipline relevant to equipment involved in the role.
  • Adequate skills for performing competent maintenance routines, whether in field service or depot‑based roles.
  • In‑depth skills for fault diagnosis, dismantling, repair, and testing of the defined equipment type.
  • Experience working with generator engines (mandatory).
Desirable Criteria
  • Hold a C and G, NVQ, or other recognised professional or vocational qualification in the relevant technical discipline.
  • In‑depth experience in multiple technical disciplines, such as mechanical and electrical.
  • Hands‑on experience in service, maintenance, installation, and repair of diesel‑driven generators.
