We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Lanscaster Farms as a Functional Skills English Cover Teacher. This position is offered on a Fixed Term basis, full time for 6 months. Mon‑Thurs 8.15am‑5pm then half a day Friday.

Site Information

HMP Lanscaster Farms is located on the outskirts of Lancaster. The prison is a Category C Male Prison and offers a diverse range of education opportunities and employment support opportunities in industrial cleaning, physical education, gardening among others. The team’s aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners always feel safe. The prison’s mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Teaching qualification and where applicable, relevant subject specialist qualification - with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months
  • Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)/ Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) or commit to work towards within a specified timeframe (Applies to Teachers in YOI only)
  • Creating stimulating, vibrant environments which are conducive to learning and motivational for learners
  • Achievement of quality targets
  • Producing accurate and timely reports
