Job Title: Fleet Supervisor

Characteristics of the Class: Under the general supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Fleet Supervisor is responsible for overseeing Fleet and Garage personnel and the Fleet and mechanical needs of the agency. Tasks completed by the Fleet Supervisor include budgeting, procurement of vehicles, and equipment, inventory control, supervision and coordination of garage operations, assignment and inspection of fleet vehicles and regular communication with the Accounting Manager. This position’s work will be periodically reviewed to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Prepare annual Fleet and Garage budgets.
  • Process purchase requests, purchase orders, and check requests for Fleet and Garage.
  • Responsible for receiving all new and used fleet vehicles, including inspection for damage, assigning vehicle numbers, and processing appropriate documentation.
  • Instruct, assign, and supervise work of automotive mechanics through observation.
  • Oversee vehicle and vessel upfit process.
  • Inventory and maintain an adequate supply of materials to perform the job.
  • Oversee process for vehicles sent to auction.
  • Oversee process for ordering, return, and payment of annual lease vehicles.
  • Assign and schedule fleet work orders.
  • Oversee accident review board process for fleet vehicles.
  • Perform related work as required.
Qualifications:
A. Training and Experience
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Associate degree preferred from an accredited college or university.
  • NAFA (National Association of Fleet Administrators) and CAFM (Certified Automotive Fleet Management) certifications preferred.
  • A combination of education, certifications, and experience may be considered.
B. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to maintain detailed records and to perform a variety of related clerical tasks.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment such as computer, printer, copier, etc.
  • Knowledge of the operation of automotive mechanical practices, tools, and shop equipment.
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through written and oral forms.
Essential Physical Skills:
  • Able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Acceptable hearing (with or without correction).
  • Acceptable vision (with or without correction).
  • Ability to bend, stretch, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds of weight.
