Job description
This role has the potential to become permanent for a candidate who demonstrates strong impact, particularly through the production of high-quality, decision-useful management information from the new system.**About The Role:**You will be working closely with teams across the organisation of all senorities. The role provides cover for an established Finance Partner post, maintaining strong day-to-day finance partnering support during a period of significant systems and process change.Alongside core responsibilities such as budgeting, reporting and forecasting, you will play an important role in supporting the transition to Oracle ERP. This will include understanding system design, supporting testing and implementation activity, and helping embed new ways of working across Finance and the wider Institute.You will be a key advisor on a selection of large-scale operational areas and projects, providing clear financial insight while helping shape how financial data, reporting and management information are delivered in the new ERP environment.**You Will Be Responsible For:**You will work closely with teams across the Institute to help them manage budgets, plan for the future and make informed decisions, providing continuity of finance partnering support while systems and processes transition into the new ERP.You will act as a trusted advisor on major projects and operational activity, ensuring that financial data, reporting and controls remain robust throughout the ERP implementation period.You will contribute to the design, development and improvement of management information and reporting outputs, ensuring they are clear, accurate and genuinely useful for decision-making in the new system.You will support the strengthening of financial controls, processes and ways of working, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, clarity and consistency as Oracle ERP is implemented.You will work collaboratively with colleagues in Finance, the ERP project team and the wider business to support testing, data validation, issue resolution and post-go-live stabilisation, alongside ongoing BAU finance support.**About You:**You will be a confident and capable finance professional with strong technical skills, including advanced Excel. You will bring a proactive, solutions-focused approach and be comfortable balancing business-as-usual finance partnering with change and system-related activity.You will enjoy building trusted relationships and will be able to translate complex financial and system information into clear, actionable insight. Strong interpersonal skills will be essential, alongside the ability to adapt quickly and manage competing priorities during a period of transition.**Essential Technical Skills:*** Fully qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent or equivalent working experience* Experience working in financial accounting/financial partnering/finance management* Strong grasp of fundamental principles behind budgeting, forecasting, scenario modelling, activity based costing and other management accounting concepts together with a pragmatic mind-set* Advanced Excel skills (including but not limited to pivot tables, lookups, formulae, graphs etc)* Knowledge of MI & Reporting tools such as Oracle, Power BI and/or Tableau* Ability to present data in innovative and visually appealing ways – e.g. Dashboards, Presentations, Graphs/Tables**Essential Competencies and Behaviours:*** Strategic thinking and ability to understand how the Finance team supports the broader aims of Sanger science* Ability to build trusted business relationships through using strong interpersonal skills, team working and focus on delivering benefits for internal customers* Strong oral and written communication skills* Self-starter and pro-active, with a willingness to learn and be curious* Attention to detail, focus on getting the basic financials right first time* Be comfortable challenging; and being challenged* A commitment to work as part of a team to progress the strategic aims of the Institute* Strong time management skills and ability to work with competing prioritiesOur Financial Planning & Partnering team plays a key role in supporting Sanger’s science and operations. Working closely with budget-holders across the Institute, we help teams plan, forecast and manage their funding effectively. We provide clear financial reporting, offer guidance on budgets, and support strategic decisions through financial modelling and business cases.
