Qualifications

  • Strong background in fusion splicing and OTDR testing on fibre networks.
  • Valid NRSWA Street Works Operative card is required.
  • Comfortable working at heights and within the underground network.

  • Splicing and testing optical fibres to customer premises.
  • Updating records and documenting completed works.
  • Taking part in a 24-hour call-out team for emergency repairs.

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Fibre Optic Network Splicer to help us bring ultrafast connectivity to even more homes and businesses. This is a hands‑on role where no two days are the same. From fibre installation to testing, troubleshooting and delivering great customer experiences, you’ll play a vital part in shaping our growing network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installing optical fibre cable into distribution points, fibre enclosures and patch panels on new and existing networks
  • Splicing and testing external/internal optical fibres to customer premises using Fusion Splicer, OTDR and ILM – taking pride in delivering exceptional quality
  • Diagnosing and resolving faults on live and new networks
  • Updating records, reporting completed works and accurately documenting any changes
  • Taking part in a rota‑based 24‑hour call‑out team for emergency repairs
  • Working independently and as part of a tight‑knit team to achieve targets and KPIs
  • Promoting and maintaining the highest standards of Health & Safety at all times
  • Supporting the wider team with any reasonable duties to ensure a great installation experience for our customers

What We’re Looking For
  • A full UK driving licence (held for at least 12 months)
  • Valid NRSWA Street Works Operative card
  • Confident reading and updating schematics, duct diagrams and as‑built records
  • Strong background in fusion splicing and OTDR testing on fibre networks
  • Comfortable working at heights and within the underground network
  • A great communicator with a positive, can‑do attitude

It Would Be Great If You Also Have …
  • BT PIA and/or WPD OH35 accreditation (beneficial but not essential)
