The Vacancy

Hydrofix part of RSK Group is hiring for an Engineering Geology & Ground Modelling Lead. Hydrofix is a UK-based offshore Geoscience Consultancy supporting renewable energy, telecommunications, and power projects worldwide. Located in Tattenhall, Cheshire, our expert team delivers full project lifecycle support from feasibility to construction.

We’re seeking a strategic leader to head our ground modelling practice and oversee the engineering geology discipline. This role focuses on offshore wind, HVDC/HVAC interconnectors, and telecoms infrastructure, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to the energy transition. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to plan, engineer, and support the construction of major offshore projects for leading developers and TSO’s.

The ideal candidate is an experienced professional capable of excelling at a Principal level, with potential to progress to Associate Director.

The position is full-time with flexible working arrangements, based out of our network of RSK offices. Spending time at our Hydrofix Cheshire location fostering collaboration, technical development, and team growth, making a meaningful impact on future energy infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical leadership and development of our ground model discipline offering
  • Technical leadership, development and ownership of our Engineering Geology capabilities
  • Technical leadership for the development of GIS solutions for survey management and ground modelling projects
  • Technical leadership in geotechnical data acquisition, developing scopes, specifications and best practice in survey management
  • Authoring, review and approval of geo desktop studies, ground modelling reports and geotechnical interpretative reports
  • Producing thought leadership, white papers and technical papers for peer review
  • Technical document reviews
  • Technical data QC analysis, gap analysis and presentation
  • Attending Client meetings
  • Attending industry and sector specific exhibitions and conferences
Person Specification
  • Geology undergraduate with a higher degree in engineering geology, geotechnical engineering, or closely related discipline
  • Deep knowledge of geological processes and the relationship between provenance, formation and engineering geological units when characterising offshore projects
  • Strong understanding of construction and installation risk in offshore wind and the relationship with fundamental provenance-related characteristics of soil and rock formations
  • Demonstrable project track record of shallow (<150m), high resolution ground model development in a range of geological settings in offshore wind and other marine sectors
  • Experience in the development of ground modelling and data integration workflows
  • Strong understanding of geoscience data in the marine environment
  • Demonstrable track record and experience in the offshore wind, subsea cable and broader offshore energy sector
  • A strong desire for Continued Professional Development and either Chartered, or in the process of doing so
  • Able to develop and advocate for novel technical developments
  • Customer facing, with excellent relationship management skills
