Emergency OOH Veterinary Surgeon (Fixed Term, 9 months)

Scarsdale Vets – Pride Park, Derby

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Out‑Of‑Hours (OOH) Veterinary Surgeon to join our team for a 9‑month fixed‑term contract (December 2025 – September 2026). This role offers a diverse and steady caseload covering OOH for our own practices and several surrounding practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide inpatient care and perform emergency surgeries such as foreign‑body removal, GDV, C‑section and dressing changes
  • Work independently while collaborating with the nursing team and referral interns overnight
  • Support a high standard of patient care using our advanced facilities (CT, MRI, ultrasound, endoscopy, etc.)

Key Qualifications

  • RCVS registered veterinary surgeon with demonstrated experience in external emergency caseload (ECC)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work autonomously yet as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Passion for career development and progression within a supportive environment
