The company’s first product is the OrganOx metra® normothermic machine perfusion (NMP) system for liver transplantation, which has supported more than 5,000 operations globally.

Position Summary

The Electronics Design Engineer will design, develop, and support electronics systems for OrganOx’s medical devices, ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards. The role covers the full lifecycle of electronics design—from concept through to manufacturing handover—including schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping, and verification. Proficiency with Altium Designer is considered a strong advantage. This is a flexible on‑site role based in our Oxford office, combining on‑site collaboration with remote design work.

Major Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electronic circuits and PCB layouts focused on reliability, safety, and manufacturability.
  • Create schematics and PCB designs using Altium Designer (advantageous).
  • Perform component selection and design calculations to meet performance specifications.
  • Conduct design verification and validation in accordance with IEC 60601 and other applicable standards.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, software, and systems engineers to ensure seamless integration of electronics.
  • Support prototype assembly, debugging, and troubleshooting.
  • Prepare and maintain design documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical input for continuous product improvement.
  • Support transfer to manufacturing and assist with supplier engagement for electronics components and assemblies.
  • Adhere to OrganOx’s Code of Conduct and all company policies.
Requirements
Skills & Experience
  • Demonstrable industry experience in electronics design.
  • Strong knowledge of analogue and digital circuit design.
  • Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout, ideally with Altium Designer.
  • Familiarity with EMC design considerations and design‑for‑manufacture principles.
  • Experience with electronic testing tools such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, and logic analysers.
  • Understanding of medical device standards (ISO 13485, IEC 60601, IEC 62304) is an advantage.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex design issues.
  • Effective communication skills for working within cross‑functional teams.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in regulated industries, preferably medical devices, is desirable.
  • Ability to travel occasionally (up to 5%).
