Overview

Hours of Work: 42 hours a week, Monday to Sunday

You will be based on Trinity Buoy Wharf Pier, Poplar, London E14 0JY, a short walk from Canning Town tube or a hop across the river in our staff boat, from North Greenwich tube.

Uber Boat by Thames Clippers are London's leading River Bus service. Our fleet of high speed catamarans provide commuters and sightseers with a unique way to travel around the capital. We carry around 4–5 million passengers a year and employ over 340–470 staff (figures vary by year).

This is an engineering role focused on the day-to-day maintenance and servicing of all vessels, with a direct impact on safety and customer experience.

Responsibilities
  • Perform day-to-day maintenance and servicing of vessel electrical systems, including AC/DC power generation and distribution, alarm, steering, engine and generator control, propulsion, motors and pumps, battery and charging, PA/AV, HVAC, navigational equipment and auxiliary control circuits on-board.
  • Understand logic controllers and upload programs; interface electronic control with mechanical and hydraulic components.
  • Maintain clear, timely defect reports and keep accurate records; work on own initiative as required.
  • Collaborate across departments to build strong working relationships and share important information within the team.
  • Respond flexibly to 12-hour shift patterns (4 days/nights) and be adaptable to changing schedules.
  • Communicate effectively with Masters operating the vessels to support safe and efficient operations.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Experience or familiarity with marine electrical systems and control technology is useful; training on our systems and a thorough induction will be provided.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work with autonomy and responsibility.
  • Willingness to build relationships across departments and contribute as a trusted team member.
