A prominent educational institution in Gateshead is seeking a Faculty Leader for English to lead a high-performing team dedicated to shaping the literacy of 1,700 pupils. The ideal candidate will possess Qualified Teacher Status and a degree in English, alongside demonstrated strong leadership and teaching experience. This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary on the Leadership Scale. Salary: Leadership Scale L9-L12 (£63,070 - £67,898)

We are seeking an exceptional leader to join Whickham School and lead our thriving English & Media Faculty. This is your opportunity to shape the literacy and learning of 1,700 pupils while working with a talented team of 15 English specialists.
Whilst we are a high-performing school (Progress 8 of +0.26 in 2024 and 85% achieving grade 4+ in English in 2025), we are about much more than our academic performance.
