Job description

The Salvation Army Bridge Services provide a range of effective support services in both residential and community based settings that use a range of evidence-based holistic approaches to reduce the physical, physiological and social harm that can result from the use of alcohol and or other drugs.

The Bridge welcomes diversity and is inclusive of culture, age, disability, sexuality and gender identity and we are also committed to supporting people who experience co-existing mental health challenges and take a kaupapa whānau (working with other services) approach in working together to support the well-being of our tāngata whaiora.

Our services encourage participation in the development and practical application of skills where people are supported to set their own goals and recovery plan in order to reduce the harmful effects of alcohol and or other drugs.

We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified Social Worker or addictions counsellor for our residential programme based in Addington, Christchurch.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provision of casework that provides integrated care for those experiencing co-existing problems of addiction and mental health.
  • Group facilitation
  • Working within the framework of The Salvation Army Bridge Programme Model of Treatment.
  • Implementation of the Salvation Army Bridge Programme Policies and Procedures
  • Undertakes rostered on-call duty management as per Duty Manager Guidelines
Person Specification
  • Degree in Social Work or addiction counselling
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • DAPAANZ Registration
  • Commitment to continuing professional development relevant to addiction studies.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment, sharing information, ideas and effective practices while maintaining client and service privacy, and confidentiality

Hours of work

This is a permanent full time role of 40 hours per week.

The starting salary

for this role will fall between$68,037 and $102,000 per annum.

Pay equity and remuneration

This role is covered by the pay equity agreement and the final remuneration will be dependent on the years experience of the preferred candidate brings to the role.
