Senior Buyer - Category Lead Maidenhead - £55,000, to £60,000, 5% Bonus, Car Allowance and Private Healthcare

Melbreck Technical are working with a leading designer and manufacturer of special purpose electro‑mechanical and electronic equipment based near Maidenhead.

Due to a planned expansion, and succession planning for the next two to three years, they are actively looking for a Senior Buyer Indirect Spend to join the organisation as soon as possible.

Senior Buyer Job Role

• To act as procurement lead for a number of high spend and/or high risk categories, whose performance has a significant bearing on the overall performance of the Business.
• To manage end to end supply of parts for nominated commodity, ensuring that the commodity strategy is deployed.
• To ensure effective supplier management.
• To ensure competitive sourcing for all products and or services with the objective of delivering year on year savings against standard cost in accordance with the objectives of the Purchasing function.
• Work closely with the Commodity team to ensure supplier engagement and quotation support is provided as part of any Bid or NPI activity.
• Identify productivity ideas and drive to implementation.
• Manage and drive improvements in PPV for their scope.

Senior Buyer Candidate Requirements

• At least 3 years experience of working as a Buyer with commodity level experience.
• Sufficient experience to form part of the Supply Chain Management team, evidence of contributing to strategy and vision.
• A degree in business, operations, supply chain, or related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience of supporting the development and improvement of a complex supply chain within an engineering and manufacturing environment.
• Experience of implementing contract and supply negotiations with suppliers and taking ownership and accountability for subsequent fulfilment of these contracts.
• Exposure to the aerospace/defence market would be an advantage.
• Appreciation of commodity management.
• Experienced in working within MRP environments.
• CIPS qualification or studying for is an advantage.
