Job summary

A Waste Treatment Plant company near Knaresborough is looking for a Mechanical Fitter to support the maintenance team. The role involves PPM and reactive maintenance, fault-finding, and fabrication work, while adhering to strict health, safety, and quality standards. Ideal candidates will have an NVQ Level 3/BTEC in Maintenance Engineering, mechanical apprenticeship experience, and skills in hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical drawings. This position is full-time for an initial 3-month period.

Qualifications

• Time-served Mechanical Fitter with hands-on experience.
• Understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics systems.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.

Job description

On behalf of our client near Knaresborough, we are recruiting a Mechanical Fitter to join a Waste Treatment Plant on a full-time basis, initially for 3 months.

You will support the Mechanical Maintenance Team and Lead Engineer, carrying out PPM and reactive maintenance, fault-finding, fabrication work, and assisting with planned outages while maintaining high health, safety, and quality standards.

Shift Pattern

• Week 1: Mon-Fri, 8am-4pm
• Week 2: Mon-Fri, 10pm-6am

Key Duties

• Maintain and repair conveyor belts, pumps, gearboxes, valves, and cranes
• Carry out fabrication and workshop duties
• Complete PPM and reactive maintenance
• Use CMMS systems and support maintenance KPIs
• Follow all H&S, quality, and environmental procedures

Requirements

• Time-served Mechanical Fitter
• Mechanical Apprenticeship
• NVQ Level 3 / BTEC in Maintenance Engineering or equivalent
• Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, fabrication, and mechanical drawings
• Strong understanding of safe systems of work
• IOSH Managing Safely (desirable)
