Job description
Overview

We are looking to appoint a qualified teacher with experience of teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to lead our neuro-diverse, complex needs class at the school. The role is to provide delivery of teaching and learning to pupils in our SEND Hub provision and to promote a culture that embraces and supports pupils with Special Educational Needs. The Teacher will report directly to the SENDCo, who is the leading professional in the school for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.

The role will include:

  • Providing day-to-day delivery of outstanding practice to pupils with SEND
  • Continually supporting progress through improvement in standards by adapting teaching and learning across the year groups
  • Ensuring the effective implementation of the curriculum for the overall development of, and to ensure the wellbeing, of the individual learner
  • To observe, assess and create plans for students with SEND
  • To promote and develop learner accessibility and wellbeing
  • To advise and consult with professionals in and for annual reviews, referrals and One Plan meetings
  • Structure the day-to-day function of the school, always considering all learners and their needs
  • To promote equality, diversity and inclusion and demonstrate this within the role, adhering to the Equal Opportunities Policy and Code of Practice
  • Comply with and support the implementation of all school policies
  • To adhere to Health & Safety Policies and ensure all tasks are carried out with due regard to Health and Safety
  • To work with due regard to confidentiality and the principles of Data Protection, encouraging others to do the same
  • Manage and organise the school environment effectively to ensure that the safeguarding of children and young people with SEND is given high priority
  • Create an ethos within which all staff are motivated and supported to develop their skills and knowledge
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with parents and carers as appropriate
  • Contribute to paperwork for annual reviews, referrals and One Plan meetings

Other areas of responsibility:

You will be required to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, and follow and implement school policies and the staff code of conduct. The postholder may be required to do other duties appropriate to the level of the role, as directed by the Headteacher or SENDCo.
