Job summary

A global risk advisory firm seeks an Atmospheric Research Lead to join their View of Risk Advisory team. This office-based role involves leading impactful natural catastrophe research and evaluation projects to create commercial value for clients. The candidate will be an expert in atmospheric science and will collaborate with various stakeholders, ensuring models meet client needs. A Master’s degree and significant experience in catastrophe modelling are required, alongside proficiency in SQL and programming languages like Python or R.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or equivalent experience in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, Climate Science or a closely related field is required.
  • 5+ years in catastrophe modelling or quantitative risk roles in reinsurance/insurance industry.
  • Experience with model development for atmospheric catastrophe risk models.

Responsibilities

  • Lead atmospheric catastrophe model research, evaluation and benchmarking.
  • Collaborate with catastrophe model users to ensure models fit in portfolio management.
  • Present findings and implications to clients and senior leadership.
